The apostle Paul says: "I resolve to know nothing except Christ, and him crucified" It is funny that the church needs the ten points to this, the seven points to that, yet no longer requires the finish work of the cross (it appears that the church wants more). But when Christ is not enough, man looks to seek rightouesness through good deeds and dead works, for when ones hope is not in the cross, and in the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, by default, man looks to him self and those above him for the answer, instead of saying: your grace is suffcient form me. Is humanism the start of the great apostasy; the falling from grace into religious rituals and settling for the recognition of man, over the fear of the Lord? Is God now reduced to a finacial plan or slave to his promises to increase us with many goods? Or are are we the prophesied laodicean church, that thinks we have it all, but, are infact: poor, miserable, wretched and blind? I believe it is time to get back to the aforementioned belief of Paul; desiring to know only, Christ and him crucified! And get back to the true gospel: the gospel of grace! For i am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to them that believe. Man needs to take his hand of and let go, getting back to it being about God and what he has done and not about man and his selfish ambitions and desires.

Our God knows that true happiness and true freedom can only come as a result of holiness. Anything short of that is a counterfeit and a deception. Sadly, too often the fear of man outweighs the fear of God

I think that the Gospel of Humanism is an approach that alot of my friends an I, have taken in the past to see our friends saved. When the going gets a little tough, we see our friends want to run back to their comfort zones > ie their old ways. We need to learn that the most effective way to lead people to Christ is to share the whole Gospel message. Not just the sugar on top. I am challenged by this message and have made recent changes in the past to the way i present the Gospel to the unsaved. It is amazing when you share the whole picture how much people realise how big and awesome God really is and how much they need him.

If you find that alot of your Christian mates are slipping away, pray that the Lord will break them in his time. Brokenhearted people are close to the lord and are ready to obey. Its time for people to realise that we exist for God, not that God exists for us. (Read Psalm 34 I love it.)

Great stuff!!.....We wonder why the modern church only has an alleged 5% "retention rate" of people that make a decision for Christ. I believe it has a lot to do with what Andrew has spoken about here. People often make a decision based on an emotion and an expectation given to them by an eloquent speaker who has tickled that deep seeded desire within us to find happiness, escape and acceptance rather than a complete conviction of truth and the reality of an almighty God. When these emotions fade after time and their expectations are dashed at the first offence they take then Christianity becomes just another lifestyle choice for them that didn't work and they simply cross it off the list and move on to the next world view that makes them feel nice.

Anyway that is my 2 cents worth (for all thats worth!!)
