The Ishmael ministry
(Genesis 16:2) And Sarai said to Abram, See, now, Jehovah has kept me from bearing.
Go in now unto my slave-girl. And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.

Paul thinks this story is important for us to understand. (Romans 4:3) Abraham's faith in God's promise is our allegory. But there is also another type and shadow staring us in the face.
There are two sons in the house, not just one. The son of the promise, and another.
He is the son of the flesh. Do you remember his name? Ishmael.

(Genisis 16:12) His hand will be against all, and the hand of everyone against him.
Ishmael grows to hate. Ishmael sees himself displaced. In his mind, he is the rightful heir.
He is the ruler. Who does Ishmael hate the most? The son who took his place.
Don't we see this still today? The unrelenting hatred and bent to destroy the seed of the promise.

How did Ishmael come about? Paul wants us to take note.
Sarah had an idea. She had a plan. She had a program. She had a schedule all planned out. Gods plan is abandoned. She looks to man for her inspiration. Abraham is happy with the idea as well, for typical reasons.

This type and shadow is an awesome example for us.
Its our first clear example of "The Ishmael ministry"
This ministry is blessed with the talents of men. Its aggressive. It is dedicated to its cause. It has the Form of Godliness. The Ishmael ministry has a plan, a program, a schedule all planned out. And above all, the Ishmael ministry is the ruler in the house. But what happens when a son of the promise shows up.
Don't be deceived. Ishmael is no nice guy, as he may look. When the son of the promise gets in his way, he has only one unrelenting thought. Kill!

My very sincere thanks for you awesome web-site.
In His great love, and in (His promise) only!

That was sic, so true that we have been bred into a place where we feel it is only up to the 'leaders' to preach and we are being fed by them. It truly retards the saints and there is no wonder in my mind that we never see true revival operating like it did in the early church. As long as crew stay silent it is not only robbing the individual as growth is stagnated, but it also robs the brethren around them who could be incredibly encouraged and edified and even equipped through the consequent dialegomai, but also it robs the crew that don't know Jesus at all, we remain silent and they do not hear the gospel and that's crook. Lets hit it for real, no other name but Jesus, every knee will bow and tongue confess! Lets flag any other name of organisations or any titles, our only boast is in Jesus Christ and Him crucified!

Religeon and heirachical christianity are systems that demonic powers use to instill fear and insecurity in people that are longing to access the freedom and spiritual authority readily accessible to any follower of Christ. Religeon is as much a distraction from God as the typical temptations we are taught to avoid from the pulpit like lust, greed, selfishness and all the rest, it is just a false security blanket.

I personally don't lay the blame for my own reluctance to grow spiritually anywhere but on my own head. I think I have known it all along too, but I still struggle with the how.

good article. thanks.

when i hear teaching like this, a deep part of me, the part of me that knew it was true all along, gives a satisfying sigh of relief. like a tall glass of water in the desert, these are the words that keep our souls alive.....so keep on writing the 'Living Epistle'!
