A Cogitable Comparative of the Imminent Change

by Brett Jacobsen

This brief article is an excerpt from the author's book Heaven's Underground Blueprint which is available here - http://www.christisall.org/hub-book.

When we choose the new wineskin over the old wineskin:

We will move from human ingenuity to humility,
From pragmatism to prophetic vision.
We’ll give up the floss to take up our cross,
Seek one desire instead of one hundred distractions,
Preferring God’s attributes to good atmosphere.
We’ll relish in His presence as opposed to man’s prominence.
As we equip the saints and not entrap the statistics,
We’ll trade external frills for eternal fruit.

As leaders who were once washed up, become once more washed:

We’ll reject apostate enslavers to receive apostolic examples.
True prophets will be preferred to church profits.
Plural pastors will replace prideful popes.
We’ll embrace overseers, rejecting over-doers,
And value elders before entertainers.
Direction will spring from one accord, not the selected board.
And we’ll produce disciplined sons instead of disappointed slaves.

As we move into faith community, leaving behind false conformity:

We’ll choose covenant fellowship instead of convenient friendship.
Suddenly movements (Acts 2:2) will be preferred to Sunday meetings.
We’ll replace covenant breaking with breaking bread.
There’ll be more dialogue than monologue,
Apostles’ doctrine rather than apostate dictation.
We’ll choose the secret place, not social praise,
As we release the servants, not retard the same.

When we go into all the world rather than all the world going into us:

The hiders in the heard will become the sowers of the Word.
There’ll be proclaimed Gospel instead of prolonged gossip,
Revolution, not dilution.
We’ll have selfless standing before selfish demanding,
Biblical evangelism replacing blatant hedonism.
There’ll be laity commission instead of lazy omission.

As we do things more heavenly than humanly:

We’ll choose hungry hearts over hurried hoards.
Desire praying partners before paying patrons.
They’ll seek intersession instead of intermission,
And rely on prayer not flare.
When we all stop playing and start praying,
There’ll be silent waiting, not silly debating,
Prayerfulness before carefulness.
Spare ritual will be exchanged for the spiritual.
This change will have us pressing on rather than plodding along:

You’ll hear sympathetic sobbing drown out superficial singing.
We will give anything to Him, not just take everything from Him.
As we are Wordily Sanctified, not worldly sanitised
There’ll be one body instead of one billion,
Division will turn to a dry bones vision.
We’ll want God’s milk and honey more than man’s silk and money.
We’ll trade passion pop for perfect peace.

Rather than ongoing sin we will onslaught and win.

  2. Terrie Comeaux Says:

Truly, you have opened your mouth wide and the Lord has filled it with the finest of wheat! One thing is for sure brother, those who have ears to hear will do so, because to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet. Terrie

  3. John Corson Says:

Once again, my brother, the clarity and the consistancy of the Word ring out. The truth as it is in Jesus is proclaimed ! It is wonderful how the Lord brings concerns to one and then confirms them through a word- written or spoken. Thank you for your courage and faithfulness.
