Reformation Seeds in Asia

A small team of us (an Aussie, a Kiwi, and a Yank) have just got back from a three week trip to a certain Asian country (which must remain anonymous if we wish to go back). Our main objective, which I believe God achieved, was to meet with pastors and leaders to teach and discuss reformational issues in the church. Wow, God is soooo good. Across four major cities (and a few stops in-between) we met with hundreds of pastors and leaders and sowed some huge Kingdom reformation seeds. They were very receptive to us and the teaching which we brought.

Some highlights of the trip were:

- The openness of many pastors to repent of Dark-Age structures and heart attitudes and begin a process of change.

- Pastors and leaders standing together for their city and looking at moving forward into New Testament expressions of church.

- Seeing how God still uses oppressive governments to fulfil His purposes. (In much of this country they are not supposed to have meetings larger than 10-20 people now, or they will suffer grave consequences). It sounds like God is helping them to move out of the old and contemporary cathedrals into Kingdom of Christ life.

- Having to flee and hide mid-meeting from the officials (only for twenty minutes till they checked the premises); also, having to pay bribes to officials in another town to minister and another one to get my laptop back.

- Hanging out with beautiful children (many orphans who are cared for by Christians).

- Although it wasn’t our main focus, Jesus healed people.

- Spending quality gospel time with- my new good friends Gary Davis and Tom Sparks, and my old good friends Mang and Ciin.

- Meeting many native believers who love the Lord passionately, and serve Him joyfully. Also, seeing brothers and sisters who I haven’t seen in eleven years since I was last there.

I am greatly encouraged by what God did on this trip. Real, lasting change won’t happen instantly but I believe the process has begun and the Lord is well able. I am going to be prayerfully considering another trip in the near future, as well as getting involved over there in other ways. I have talked to a good young brother over there who translates literature into the native language. I would like to get some reformational literature printed over there to give to saints from all over the country. Please pray for us as we move forward with Jesus as He builds His church in this country.

Finally, we would like to express our deep appreciation to all who prayed for us and the people while we were there. Also, big thanks to all who contributed financially towards the trip and the ministry work. And, thank you very much to those who regularly financially value (time) me and the ministry which God does through me; because of your generosity I am free to go where God calls me.

Grace and peace,

Bretto
