I recently found this site probably the same way many of you have by searching for things "Outside the camp". My story is long so I'll spare you the details but I'm now 2 years removed from the catholic church. I counted the cost prior to leaving and sure enough I've lost everthing accept my husband and home. Though not all have completely abandoned us the relationships will never be the same. On this journey God has been faithfully working to unravel and remove the people, things, mindsets and habits of church and religion that were woven into my being since birth and all I can do is trust that he knows what's best for me. God alone is my strength and my portion.
I count on nothing and no one else other then God to sustain me but I too miss the fellowship with like hearted believers. Writing music is my therapy.

Let me be the first to admit that i have spent far more time trying to 'win friends and influence people' than i have being lonely. Its amazing how you convince yourself to keep those bridges open for traffic, even though you gladly recieved the box of matches from the Holy Ghost.

This article is me all over, thanks to God and to you Bretto for posting this, something i have needed to hear for the past 2 years at least. i cannot explain the anguish i have felt but being reminded that God IS in fact listening i can move forward and accept that my loneliness is not such a bad thing after all.

It does make a person feel a little less crazy to know there are others out there who have been pulled aside who don't have other people who share the same inner workings of God. Having a personality type that enjoys peace and solitude definitely helps : ) My only link also to like thinkers is through different internet sites along with books.
My husband is a Christian, but not on the same page as me as far as how he is growing. I hope one day at least he and I can share more together in Christ, but would not trade that hope for knowing Him and walking alone. Kate

Thanks Bretto, I really needed to hear this word of encouragement. Boy has it been lonely for a few years now. My only link to brethren of like faith is the internet at this time and season. God Bless you! Terrie
