Hey James,

Obviously there are helpful systems on the planet. The issue is with church systems.

I think there main point was good: that deception and error is usually thought to be chaotic but is usually on the contrary. That is why it's so deceptive because it seems orderly and good but usually the more church things are systematized the more carnal Christendom rules rather than the heavenly Christ.

Peace,

My understanding of this is that any system formulated around or upon error is bad, which I agree with.

So would any system forumalted upon truth be good? I wasn't sure if the article was criticising all systematising or only erroneous systematising.

I think the digestive system is a good system, it allows us to sift content and either absorb and be nourished by it or expell and be disgusted by it.

Response to Chris,

Hi Chris, thanks for your comment. While I didn't write this article I did post it here because I felt it was beneficial.

I didn't feel they had "opposition to the gift of the teacher" in this article. Obviously they can't be anti-teaching because they were teaching by writing the article. It is more about control and systemetizing everything into neat little boxes, thus choking the work of the Spirit.

Thanks again for your thoughts, hopefully your not "under a pastor" any more... besides Jesus.

Grace and peace,

Bretto

There can be no doubt that too much organization kills the organism. We must always keep this in mind when our tendency arises to push a group in a certain direction, especially by too much teaching. I am an adamant proponent of every gift being allowed the freedom to develop, and as such, I am somewhat concerned by your apparent opposition to the gift of the teacher. I agree that the body should not be primarily teacher driven, but teaching must have its place in the body. We must be allowed in the Holy Spirit to gather for all kinds of purposes, which might mean that we gather for prayer and fellowship sometimes, for teaching and ministry on other occassions, maybe just worship and fellowship sometimes, or merely to soak in the Spirit and listen for the Lord to speak to us. Sometimes the Lord might call some out to evangelize while others remain in the house to intercede. Any kind of meeting is possible, but I am hesitant to throw out the gift of teaching. I was under a pastor who allowed all kinds of meetings, but he would not allow the study of the Bible in home groups. This proved to be very unfortunate for those groups who experienced an influx of new believers who had a hunger for the word of God. The church eventually fragmented and disbanded. For the most part, however, I was blessed and challenged by this article.

This article hit the nail on the head. This puts words to what has been brewing in my heart for some time. May the truth continue to march on in the hearts and minds of His people.
