Principles In New Testament Ministry Money (video series) Part 4 of 5

The topic of ministry money is of great importance in this reformation season due to the lack of clarity and the many imbalanced views presented. On the one hand we have legalism, rapacity and mans’ kingdom building, on the other hand reactionary fear, confusion and disguised individualism. This series endeavours to present a biblical balance in the area of finances in Kingdom ministry. Surely the aim is biblical and Holy Spirit integrity and freedom in our financial support for the extension and enhancement of Christ’s great Kingdom.

    Hey Brother,
i really appreciated this teaching. It made alot of things clear to me. Although i do agree with you about how some in the christian world promoting their books at every corner for what ever reason. Their are some that are a part of the current reformational movement (if that is what we are calling it) that are promoting their books in order to get the message out, the message that is so desparetly needed. The more people catch the true vision of the Church and of the Headship of Christ and all that the Lord is bringing forth at this time the more people will be set free and move closer to God’s original intention. Although it seems cheesy to promote books there are a few I know that are doing so soley because it is a known fact that more books sell when they are published and being sold at the local book store or Amazon for that matter. This is a weird phenomen that you can get more people to read the message the Lord has given by selling it in book form than you can by giving it away for free in any form. I personally think we shouldn’t try to make money off of the Lord’s work (strictly for financial gain) which we know many do but I believe that there are those that truly do so and use the funds to pour back into furthering the message which is so needed (if that is truly what they are living for). Just a few thoughts that were on my mind. Let me know what you think. Perhaps it is somewhat of a pragmatic point of view.

Just a thought on the tension between Honour/ money and honour/value or esteem. It appeared in your video you found it hard to swallow the pill of esteem or value as that could raise up someone above another. True that could be a problem! But if the community were of the spirit of Christ then this would not be a problem for we would all value and esteem each other and look to the wealth of another. (in a perfect world.) The scripture in 1Tim 17; double honour. if we look at it in the context of esteem/value every honour scripture would sit well in the spirit. like in 1thess 5:12-13; To ESTEEM them very HIGHLY in LOVE. not the bowing down and kissing the ring. but in LOVE. and appreciation for their work. Like you kind sir, for your labour in the word, i esteem you brother, and thank you.
    Peace out.

    Hey Freedom fighter,

No, I do see that we should value teaching elders. The context of that scripture though is clearly relating to the financial remuneration side of time/value as well as just valuing them generally.

It is doxa-honour that I see to be extra-biblical in its esteem of leaders. Yes we should esteem teaching elders but when we use the English word honour it doesn’t distinguish time-value from doxa-honour/glory…

    grace
