THE KINGDOM OF CHRIST - From Commencement to Completion (video series)- Chapter 1, Messianic Kingdom Prophecies Part 3

by Brett Jacobsen
The focus of this teaching is to promote the biblical truth that Christ’s Kingdom is active and increasing right now on this earth, in this age. Erroneous eschatology has detracted from this truth in many circles of the Christian faith.
All of the major eschatological (study of how things end) passages are covered but the end of the world is not the important issue and true eschatology is merely a means to an end- Christ Himself as King of kings. Though we will look at the glorious end of earthly history from time to time, we will more so continually use the scriptures to interpret the scriptures and arrive at the present victorious Kingdom of Christ.
For most Christians this teaching will challenge you deeply in your understanding of the New Covenant and Christ’s Kingdom as well as liberate you greatly in the truth of His Word.
Messianic Kingdom Prophecies Part 3
Below are the scriptures in this teaching so you can read along:
*Ascension and rule - Dan 7:1-28
First vision- three beasts
In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters. 2 Daniel spoke and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea. 3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. 4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it. 5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said this to it, Arise, devour much flesh. 6 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.
Second vision- the fourth beast explained, thrones cast down
7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and broke in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns [Julius to Vespasian]. 8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn [Titus- as General], before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots [Galba, Otho, Vitellius]: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man [not Caesar… yet], and a mouth speaking great things. 9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down [when the saints took the kingdom], and the Ancient of days did sit [for the kingdom age], whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.
10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered to him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. 11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spoke: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame. 12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time. [Rev 20:11-15]
Third vision- Jesus receives His Kingdom
13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came [athah hava] with the clouds of heaven [Acts 1:2-11], and came [meta- arrive, reach] to the Ancient of days, and they [not a word] brought [qereb- approach, draw near] him near [qereb] before [qodam- presence] him. 14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
The main point- the saints take the Kingdom
15 I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me. 16 I came near to one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things. 17 These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth. 18 But the saints of the most High shall take [qebal- acquire, receive] the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.
Part 4- the fourth beast further explained
19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet; 20 And of the ten horns that were in his head [Julius to Vespasian], and of the other which came up [G. Titus], and before whom three fell [Galba, Otho, Vitellius]; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows. 21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints [Jews were Dan’s saints??], and prevailed against them; 22 Until the Ancient of days came [70A.D.???], and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
23 This he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces [Rev 13:7b-8]. 24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. 25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. 26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it to the end. 27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him. 28 Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart. (Dan 7:1-28)

*Israel and Jerusalem’s seventy weeks
As we will be thoroughly exploring Dan 9:24-27 on its own in a later section, it will not be explained here.
*The Bethlehem born ruler
But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall he come forth to me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. 3 Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travails has brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return to the children of Israel. 4 And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great to the ends of the earth. (Mic 5:2-4)
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is BORN King of the Jews? for we have seen his star [Num 24:17-19] in the east, and are come to worship him. 3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. 5 And they said to him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, 6 And you Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, are not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of you shall come a Governor, that shall rule [poimaino- tend as a shepherd] my people Israel. 7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. (Matt 2:1-7)
*The humble King will rule the earth
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, your King comes to you: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak [dabar- appoint] peace to the heathen [gowy- Gentiles]: and his dominion [moshel- empire] shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends [ephec- utmost] of the earth [erets- land, world, nations]. (Zech 9:9-10)
And when they drew near to Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, to the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, 2 Saying to them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway you shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them to me. 3 And if any man say ought to you, you shall say, The Lord has need of them; and straightway he will send them. 4 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, 5 Tell you the daughter of Sion, Behold, your King comes to you, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. (Matt 21:1-5)

Just one quick thought, not saying your teaching is off. But if you decide there will be no great tribulation and people believe that, and then there ends up being one we might not be as prepared for it if we had been seeing it coming. Anticipating the great tribulation would be to our benefit if there is actually going to be one. Appreciated the video, thanks…..

Hi David,
Thanks for your comment.
I encourage you to either persevere with the vid series to answer your question or jump ahead to chapter 4. In that chapter I go through the whole Olivet Discourse (Matt 24, Luke 21, Mark 13) which is Jesus prophesying the great tribulation. You may be quietly surprised at what He was, and was not talking about. Here are the links to chapter 4-

Also, it is noteworthy that the term great tribulation is only three times in the Bible, in the Olivet discours and in Revelation (chapter 6 of this series is a study through Rev).
Let me know how you go with it and feel free to post more comments.
Grace and peace,
