THE KINGDOM OF CHRIST - From Commencement to Completion (video series)- Chapter 5, Clarifying Three Major Missconceptions Part 1

by Brett Jacobsen

The focus of this teaching is to promote the biblical truth that Christ’s Kingdom is active and increasing right now on this earth, in this age. Erroneous eschatology has detracted from this truth in many circles of the Christian faith.

All of the major eschatological (study of how things end) passages are covered but the end of the world is not the important issue and true eschatology is merely a means to an end- Christ Himself as King of kings. Though we will look at the glorious end of earthly history from time to time, we will more so continually use the scriptures to interpret the scriptures and arrive at the present victorious Kingdom of Christ.

For most Christians this teaching will challenge you deeply in your understanding of the New Covenant and Christ’s Kingdom as well as liberate you greatly in the truth of His Word.

The Last Days Part 1

Below are the scriptures in this teaching so you can read along:

Last – Hebrew achariyth and Greek eschatos both mean last or end.

Days – Hebrew yowm and Greek hemera can both mean an age or space of time/period, or literal days.

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, Has in these [touton] last [eschatos] days spoken to us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds [aion- age/ages]; (Heb 1:1-2)

The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established [kuwn- confirm, perfect, ready, set] in the top of the mountains [Heb 12:18-29], and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it.

3 And many people shall go and say, Come you, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths [Jer 31:31-33/Heb 8:8-12]: for out of Zion shall go forth the law [Rom 8:1-5, Jas 1:21-25], and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem [Heb 12:22, Gal 4:21-26].

4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke [yakach- justify or convict] many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

[This is now by faith, just like healing etc]

Now judgement on natural Israel

5 O house of Jacob, come you, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.

6 Therefore you have forsaken your people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.

7 Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots:

8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:

9 And the mean man bows down [to idols], and the great man humbles himself: therefore forgive them not.

10 Enter into the rock, and hide you in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty. [Rev 6:12-17 sixth seal “fall on us”]

11 The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.

12 For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:

13 And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan,

14 And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up,

15 And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall,

16 And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures.

17 And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.

18 And the idols he shall utterly abolish.

19 And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake terribly the earth. [Rev 6:12-17 sixth seal]

20 In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats;

21 To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake terribly the earth.

22 Cease you from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of? (Is 2:1-22)

But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.

2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

4 But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts has spoken it.

5 For all people will walk every one in the name of his god [if this is the perfect millennium then why the false gods?], and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.

6 In that day, says the LORD, will I assemble her that halts [limping], and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted; [Jewish remnant and Gentiles (driven out and afflicted by God]

7 And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation [1 Pet 2:9, Matt 21:43]: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever. [New Covenant church in Mt Sion]

8 And You, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, to you shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.

9 Now why do you cry out aloud? is there no king in you? is your counsellor perished? for pangs have taken you as a woman in travail.

10 Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shall you go forth out of the city, and you shall dwell in the field, and you shall go even to Babylon; there shall you be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem you from the hand of your enemies.

11 Now also many nations are gathered against you, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion.

12 But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor.

13 Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make your horn iron, and I will make your hoofs brass: and you shall beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain to the LORD, and their substance to the Lord of the whole earth. (Mic 4:1-13)

But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said to them, You men of Judea, and all you that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known to you, and hearken to my words:

15 For these are not drunken, as you suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: [Rev 6:12-14 sixth seal, sun and moon]

21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Acts 2:14-21)

Therefore being a prophet [David], and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

31 He seeing this before spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

32 This Jesus has God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he has shed forth this, which you now see and hear.

34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he says himself, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit you on my right hand,

35 Until I make your foes your footstool.

36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God has made that same Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said to Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

38 Then Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. [Jews and Gentiles]

40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save [sozo] yourselves from this untoward [skolios- perverse, crooked] generation [genea] [Matt 11:16-24, Matt 12:38-45, Matt 23:34-39, Matt 24:34]. (Acts 2:30-40)

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall [shall isn’t here] come [enistemi- impend, be instant, present] .2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,3  Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God [Jas 5:5/1-8]; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (2 Tim 3:1-5)

Go to now [nun- present, immediate], you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall [shall not here] come [eperchomai- occur, impend, attack] upon you.

2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.

3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. You have heaped treasure together for the last days.

4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, cries: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

5 You have lived in pleasure on the earth [2 Tim 3:1-4], and been wanton; you have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

6 You have condemned and killed the just; and he does not resist you.

7 Be patient therefore, brethren, to the coming of the Lord [telling the saints to be patient until the imminent “coming” of Christ to judge the apostates]. Behold, the husbandman waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

8 Be you also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming [parousia] of the Lord draws near [eggizo- at hand- “the time is at hand [eggus- near ready]” (Rev 1:3)]. (Ja 5:1-8)
