THE KINGDOM OF CHRIST - From Commencement to Completion (video series)- Chapter 5, Clarifying Three Major Missconceptions Part 3

by Brett Jacobsen
The focus of this teaching is to promote the biblical truth that Christ’s Kingdom is active and increasing right now on this earth, in this age. Erroneous eschatology has detracted from this truth in many circles of the Christian faith.
All of the major eschatological (study of how things end) passages are covered but the end of the world is not the important issue and true eschatology is merely a means to an end- Christ Himself as King of kings. Though we will look at the glorious end of earthly history from time to time, we will more so continually use the scriptures to interpret the scriptures and arrive at the present victorious Kingdom of Christ.
For most Christians this teaching will challenge you deeply in your understanding of the New Covenant and Christ’s Kingdom as well as liberate you greatly in the truth of His Word.
Antichrist
Below are the scriptures in this teaching so you can read along:
- The word antichrist is not once mentioned in Revelation
- Dan’s 70 week prophecy and Jesus’ abomination of desolation are not “the Antichrist”
- The son of perdition (next lesson) is not “the Antichrist”
Antichrist is both a system of heresy that claims it honours the Father (Yehovah) but denies the Son (Jesus Christ as Messiah), and also the apostate individuals who perpetrate the heresy.
False Christ = pseudo Christ
Antichrist = opposer of Christ
Little children, it is the last [eschatos] time [hora- hour, day, season]: and as you have heard that antichrist shall [not here] come [erchomai][1], even [kai- so, and] now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us [2]. 20 But you have an unction from the Holy One, and you know all things. 21 I have not written to you because you know not the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is a liar but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denies the Father and the Son. 23 Whosoever denies the Son, the same has not the Father: (but) he that acknowledges the Son has the Father also. 24 Let that therefore abide in you, which you have heard from the beginning. If that which you have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, you also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father [3]. (1 John 2:18-24)
[1] “Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, [Matt 24:10-12, 2 Tim 3:1-4, Jas 5:5/1-8] 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming [one may say to deny the Son (Jews still looking for their presupposition of Messiah)]…” (2 Pet 3:3-4a)
[2] The Son-denying Jews went out from the covenant community because they were not of God (because they denied His Son). It says they “were not all of us” meaning that some of the Jews were of the covenant community but “not all” of them were.
[3] Acts 15, Galatians, Hebrews, Acts 13-… It was the apostate Jews who not only denied the Son themselves, but also went “from city to city” trying to turn believers away from the Son towards Judaism. lop
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know you the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist [1], whereof you have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. (1 John 4:1-3)
[1] He is talking about a spirit (and people) who are teaching that Messiah has not yet come to earth; i.e. the Jews who rejected Him as Messiah.
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh [1]. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. 9 Whosoever transgresses, and abides not in the doctrine of Christ, has not God [2]. He that abides in the doctrine of Christ, he has both the Father and the Son. 10 If there come any to you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed [3]: (2 John 1:7-10)
[1] That Jesus of Nazareth was in fact Messiah.
[2] Antichrist is the very denial (and often opposition) of “the doctrine of Christ”.
[3] Because he is antichrist.
He that honours [timao] not the Son honours [timao] not the Father which hath sent him. (John 5:23)
