THE KINGDOM OF CHRIST - From Commencement to Completion (video series)- Chapter 6, Revealing the Annointed King Part 6

by Brett Jacobsen
The focus of this teaching is to promote the biblical truth that Christ’s Kingdom is active and increasing right now on this earth, in this age. Erroneous eschatology has detracted from this truth in many circles of the Christian faith.
All of the major eschatological (study of how things end) passages are covered but the end of the world is not the important issue and true eschatology is merely a means to an end- Christ Himself as King of kings. Though we will look at the glorious end of earthly history from time to time, we will more so continually use the scriptures to interpret the scriptures and arrive at the present victorious Kingdom of Christ.
For most Christians this teaching will challenge you deeply in your understanding of the New Covenant and Christ’s Kingdom as well as liberate you greatly in the truth of His Word.
Revelation chapter 6
Below are the scriptures from this teaching so you can read along:
The opening of the first six seals is the process leading up to the full opening of the covenant document (which unleashes the seven trumpet judgements on apostate Israel). The six seals represent the last days (A.D. 30-66) which lead up to the great tribulation (Matt 24:4-14, Mark 13:5-13, Luke 21:8-19). They are not in chronological order.
The first four seals, the four horses, are the beginning of sorrows. The fifth is the persecution of the saints. The sixth seal is symbolic that God has begun His judgement of desolating Jerusalem, its leaders, and its inhabitants.
Chapter 6:1-2
1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.
2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given to him: and he went forth conquering [nikao- subdue, overcome], and to conquer [nikao- subdue, overcome].
* White horse is not antichrist, it is Jesus Christ.
White horse - Rev 19:11-16
* The bow –
Was the LORD displeased against the rivers? was your anger against the rivers? was your wrath against the sea, that you did ride upon your horses and your chariots of salvation? Your bow was made quite naked, according to the oaths of the tribes, even your word. Selah. You did cleave the earth with rivers. The mountains saw you, and they trembled: the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice, and lifted up his hands on high. The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of your arrows they went, and at the shining of your glittering spear. (Hab 3:8-11)
Gird your sword upon your thigh, O most mighty, with your glory and your majesty. And in your majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and your right hand shall teach thee terrible things. Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the king’s enemies; whereby the people fall under you. Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of your kingdom is a right sceptre. (Ps 45:3-6)
Jesus coming in A.D. 70 was both to destroy His enemies, hence Him leading the destructive horses in chapter six, and to conquer the kingdoms with the gospel (Rev 19:11-16).
* The crown – Ps 8:5; Heb 2:9; Is 9:6-7.
* The conquering – The word conquer is nikao which is the same as “overcomes” and “overcame” in Rev 3:21, as well as “prevailed” in Rev 5:5.
* wars and rumours of wars… – (Matt 24:6, Mark 13:7, Luke 21:9) (small apocalypse- RH. Charles)
Chapter 6:3-4
3 And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.
4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth [ge- land (of Israel)], and that they should kill one another: and there was given to him a great sword.
* The Jewish War by Flavius Josephus documents the blood red, murderous lack of peace in Jerusalem during the great tribulation (A.D. 66 – A.D. 70). This includes the above mentioned “they should kill one another”- > Men murdering their whole family to spare them being tortured by the armies of the empire. > People eating their own children rather than starving to death.
* Nation against nation, kingdom against kingdom… - (Matt 24:7a, Mark 13:8a, Luke 21:10)
Chapter 6:5-6
5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see you hurt not the oil and the wine.
* This is a depiction of famine upon the land of Israel like that prophesied by Ezekiel: Ezek 4:1-10.
“children pulled the very morsels that their fathers were eating out of their very mouths, and what was still more to be pitied, so did the mothers do as to their infants” (The Wars of the Jews – Josephus v:x:3)
“Then did the famine widen its progress, and devoured the people by whole houses and families; the upper rooms were full of women and children that were dying by famine, and the lanes of the city were full of the dead bodies of the aged; the children also and the young men wandered about the market-places like shadows, all swelled with the famine, and fell down dead, wheresoever their misery seized them.” (v:xii:3a)
Also, (vi:iii:3) (vi:iii:4 the cannibal mother)
* Famines, and pestilences… - (Matt 24:7b, Mark 13:8c, Luke 21:11b)
Chapter 6:7-8
7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.
8 And I looked, and behold a pale [green] horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given to them over the fourth part of the earth [ge- land (of Israel)], to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
* The curse from Deut 28 is unleashed upon the apostates for not listening to “the voice of the Lord” as He Himself (Jesus) came to speak with them.
PESTILENCE/PLAGUES - Matt 24:7, Luke 21:11b.
Chapter 6:9-11
9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony [marturia- evidence given] which they held:
10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, do you not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth [ge- land (of Israel)]?
11 And white robes [priestly purity] were given to every one of them; and it was said to them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
* Unlike the other seals, this one’s focus is mainly on the persecuted saints at the hands of the apostates. This seal though, is equally terrible for the apostates, in that their persecution of God’s martyrs is directly avenged as the saints “cried with a loud voice” in prayer for God to avenge their blood.
* “under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God” – The priests of Jerusalem have sacrificed them (like they did Jesus {John 15:18; Matt 24:9}) and their blood flows around the altar.
* The “testimony [marturia] which they held was not only evidence given to prove the reality of Christ, but was also evidence given against those who rejected Him.
* “How long” is reversed from Zech 1:12:
Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long will you not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which you have had indignation these threescore and ten years? (Zech 1:12)
* It is “them that dwell on the earth [ge- land (of Israel)]”, the apostate Israelites who will experience God’s judgment and vengeance for the martyrs.
* Many others were going to be martyred at the hands of the apostates who were the ones they were given as evidence against. The covenant apostates were yet to “fill … up then the measure of [their] fathers” which shed “the blood of the prophets” (Matt 23:32, 30). Jesus said they were “witnesses [martureo] to [themselves]” (Matt 23:31).
PERSECUTION - Matt 24:9-13, Mark 13:9-13, Luke 21:12-19
Chapter 6:12-14
12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
13 And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, even as a fig tree casts her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
* First read Matt 21:1-46
v1-11 - “Behold, your King comes to you”
v 12-17 – “My house shall be called the house of prayer; but you have made it a den of thieves”
v 18-22 – “found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said to it, Let no fruit grow on you here forward for ever [aion]” “you shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if you shall say to this mountain [kingdom]”
v 23-27 – “By what authority do you these things? and who gave you this authority?” “The baptism of John, where was it? from heaven, or of men?”
v 28-32 – Two sons in the vineyard. “the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.”
v33-41 – The vineyard owner. “let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.”
v 42-46 – “The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation [1 Pet 2:9] bringing forth the fruits thereof” “the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spoke of them.”
* De-creation imagery:
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD has said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call. (Joel 2:28-32)
But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said to them, You men of Judaea, and all you that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known to you, and hearken to my words: For these are not drunken, as you suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. You men of Israel, hear these words; (Acts 2:14-22)
Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie to David. His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me. It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah. (Ps 89:35-37)
The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see. Lift you up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice to them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles. I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness. The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts musters the host of the battle. They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land. Howl you; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man’s heart shall melt: And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travails: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. Behold, the day of the LORD comes, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. And I will punish the world [tebel- as Babylonia] for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. (Is 13:1-11)
… the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Son of man, take up a lamentation for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say to him, You are like a young lion of the nations, and you are as a whale in the seas: and you came forth with your rivers, and troubled the waters with your feet, and fouled their rivers. This says the Lord GOD; I will therefore spread out my net over you with a company of many people; and they shall bring you up in my net. Then will I leave you upon the land, I will cast you forth upon the open field, and will cause all the fowls of the heaven to remain upon you, and I will fill the beasts of the whole earth with you. And I will lay your flesh upon the mountains, and fill the valleys with your height. I will also water with your blood the land wherein you swim, even to the mountains; and the rivers shall be full of you. And when I shall put you out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light. All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over you, and set darkness upon your land, says the Lord GOD. I will also vex the hearts of many people, when I shall bring your destruction among the nations, into the countries which you have not known. (Ezek 32:1-9)
Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the vats overflow; for their wickedness is great. Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision. The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. (Joel 3:13-16)
Is 24:1-23; Joel 2:1-11; Mark 13:24-26; Luke 21:21-27; Rev 8:12.
And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: (Rev 12:1)
(The Old Testament church; the sun, moon, and stars represent that she is a nation)
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: (Matt 24:29)
* Powers and authorities - “the stars of heaven fell to the earth” - rulers falling – (“The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation [1 Pet 2:9] bringing forth the fruits thereof” Matt 21:43)
…the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth [ge- land] mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. (Matt 24:29-30)
And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me. And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said to him, What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and your brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to you to the earth? (Gen 37:9-10)
How are you fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how are you cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations! For you have said in your heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars [kowkab- a star, fig. a prince] of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: (Is 14:12-13)
And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: (Rev 12:3-4)
And out of one of them came forth a little horn [Antiochus Epipheneas], which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them. (Dan 8:9-10)
I haven’t looked for all the star scrips yet.
* “even as a fig tree casts her untimely figs”
…the mountains shall be melted with their blood. And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falls off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. (Is 34:3-4)
… seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if perhaps he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. And Jesus answered and said to it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever [aion]. And his disciples heard it. And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple […] And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter calling to remembrance said to him, Master, behold, the fig tree which you cursed is withered away. (Mark 11:12-21)
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken… 32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is nigh: So likewise you, when you shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Truly I say to you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. (Matt 24:29-34)
* “the heaven departed as a scroll … every mountain and island were moved out of their places.” -
Heaven:
Truly I say to you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. (Matt 24:34-35)
For truly I say to you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. (Matt 5:18)
And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falls off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment. (Is 34:4-5)
For it is the day of the Lord’s vengeance, and the year of recompenses for the controversy of Zion. (8)
Moreover the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying, Consider you not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which the LORD has chosen, he has even cast them off? thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them. Thus says the LORD; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth; Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob, and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them. (Jer 33:23-26)
Mountain:
“Every mountain” moved out of place shows God displacing the kingdoms of man…
Following on from the fig tree cursing in Mark 11 -
… behold, the fig tree which you cursed is withered away. And Jesus answering said to them, Have faith in God. For truly I say to you, That whosoever shall say to this mountain, Be you removed, and be you cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he says shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he says. Therefore I say to you, What things soever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them. (Mark 11:21b-24)
For you are not come to the mount that might be touched, […] But you are come to mount Sion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better things than that of Abel. (Heb 12:18-24)
O Lord, according to all your righteousness, I beseech you, let your anger and your fury be turned away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and your people are become a reproach to all that are about us. (Dan 9:16)
And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed. (Rev 8:8)
Behold, the day of the LORD comes […] And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. (Zech 14:1-4)
Which removes the mountains, and they know not: which overturns them in his anger. Which shakes the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble. Which commands the sun, and it rises not; and seals up the stars. Which alone spreads out the heavens, and treads upon the waves of the sea. (Job 9:5-8)
Island:
Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment. Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow. He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet. Who has wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he. The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came. (Is 41:1-5)
Therefore as I live, says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them. This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of hosts. The LORD will be terrible to them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen. (Zeph 2:9-11)
And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give to her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great. (Rev 16:17-21)
EARTHQUAKE; DECREATION - Matt 24:15-31, Mark 13:14-27, Luke 21:20-27
Chapter 6:15-17
15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
* Seven categories (which denotes completeness) of people hide from Him - kings of the earth, great men, rich men, chief captains, mighty men, every bondman, every free man.
* “Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb” – The face is the fully revealed person and presence (Ex 33:20). It is “the wrath of the Lamb”, not of Satan or antichrist.
* The great day of His wrath speaks of His full furry in judgment:
Behold, the day of the LORD comes, and your spoil shall be divided in the midst of you. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. And you shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal: yea, you shall flee, like as you fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with him. (Zech 14:1-5)
But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appears? (Mal 3:2)
