THE KINGDOM OF CHRIST - From Commencement to Completion (video series)- Chapter 6, Revealing the Annointed King Part 10

by Brett Jacobsen
The focus of this teaching is to promote the biblical truth that Christ’s Kingdom is active and increasing right now on this earth, in this age. Erroneous eschatology has detracted from this truth in many circles of the Christian faith.
All of the major eschatological (study of how things end) passages are covered but the end of the world is not the important issue and true eschatology is merely a means to an end- Christ Himself as King of kings. Though we will look at the glorious end of earthly history from time to time, we will more so continually use the scriptures to interpret the scriptures and arrive at the present victorious Kingdom of Christ.
For most Christians this teaching will challenge you deeply in your understanding of the New Covenant and Christ’s Kingdom as well as liberate you greatly in the truth of His Word.
Revelation chapter 10
Below are the notes from this teaching so you can read along:
Chapter ten and five have a number of similarities. In five The Lion of Judah (Jesus) takes the covenant book and begins to loosen the seen seals, unleashing wrath upon the apostates. In ten, the mighty angel (Jesus) appears with the covenant book which is now open and in full flight, while God’s throne utters seven thunders.
Chapter 10:1
10:1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:
This is or it represents Jesus (“captain of the host of the LORD” Josh 5:13-15):
And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings. 26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. 27 And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. 28 As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spoke. (Eek 1:25-28)
“clothed with a cloud” – The glory cloud.
Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, you are very great; you are clothed with honour and majesty. 2 Who covers yourself with light as with a garment: who stretches out the heavens like a curtain: 3 Who lays the beams of his chambers in the waters: who makes the clouds his chariot: who walks upon the wings of the wind: (Ps 104:1-3)
“rainbow was upon his head” –
And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. (Rev 4:3)
And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: 13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. 14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: 15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. (Gen 9:12-16)
- “face was as it were the sun” “feet as pillars of fire” – Rev 1:
His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; 15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. 16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shines in his strength. (Rev 1:14-16)
…shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings… (Matt 4:2)
Chapter 10:2
2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth [ge- land],
Verses 9-11 explain the little book. The little book/scroll is a prophetic pronouncement (both bitter and sweet v 9-11) like that in Ezekiel.
The sea is the multitude of the people of Israel [see comments on 4:6]; the land is the land of Israel [see ge in Kittel’s TDOTNT on land]. These two are about to be judged by Christ according to the covenant document and its prophetic decree against their apostasy.
Chapter 10:3-4
3 And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars [1]: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices [2].
4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not [3].
[1] Cause He is the Lion of the tribe of Judah:
Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. (Rev 5:5)
Chapter 5 and 10 are similar- Book - book, lion - lion roar, seven seals – seven thunder voices…
[2] Seven seals, seven trumpet decrees, seven thunders. Also, thunder = voices from the throne:
…there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. 18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake… (Rev 16:17-18)
And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. (Rev 4:5)
[3] They are sealed for a good reason- so we can’t comment here… so we won’t.
Chapter 10:5-7
5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,
6 And sware by him that lives for ever and ever [1], who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer [2]:
7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound [Rev 11:15-19], the mystery of God should be finished [teleo- complete] [3], as he has declared to his servants the prophets.
[1] He is a witness in the heavenly court that He has fulfilled His side of the covenant.
- also, presenting evidence against the covenant breakers.
On Christ as inferior due to swearing by God: Although Christ is God He also is His Son who rules the Kingdom but ultimately hands it back to Father.
Only Christ can swear by heaven-
But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yes be yes; and your no, no; lest you fall into condemnation. (Jas 5:12)
For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, (Heb 6:13)
But I say to you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne: 35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool… (Matt 5:34-35)
[2] NASB accurately says “there will be delay no longer”. He means there is no time left, its goin’ down.
[3] a. Mystery is complete over the Kingdom age (seventh angel sounds Rev 11:15-)
b. Mystery is complete in that the mystery of eternal logos is fully revealed at the end of the great tribulation:
And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: (Eph 3:9)
And he said to them, to you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but to them that are without, all these things are done in parables: (Mark 4:11)
For I would not, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. (Rom 11:25)
Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, 26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: (Rom 16:25-26)
Chapter 10:8-11
8 And the voice which I heard from heaven spoke to me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open [1] in the hand of the angel which stands upon the sea and upon the earth.
9 And I went to the angel, and said to him, Give me the little book. And he said to me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make your belly bitter, but it shall be in your mouth sweet as honey. [2]
10 And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
11 And he said to me, You must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings. [3]
[1] In chapter 5 Jesus began opening the seals of the book, now the book is open in His hand (it is happening).
[2] This book/scroll is a covenantal prophetic pronouncement against the covenant apostates and for the new covenant saints.
But you, son of man, hear what I say to you; Be not you rebellious like that rebellious house: open your mouth, and eat that I give you. 9 And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent to me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein; 10 And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without [“written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals” Rev 5:1]: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe. Moreover he said to me, Son of man, eat that you find; eat this roll, and go speak to the house of Israel. 2 So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll. 3 And he said to me, Son of man, cause your belly to eat, and fill your bowels with this roll that I give you. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. (Ezek 2:8- 3:3)
[3] Perhaps the prophecy/Revelation’s ongoing Kingdom instruction throughout history. (Christ reigns over the world- believe it).
