THE KINGDOM OF CHRIST - From Commencement to Completion (video series)- Chapter 6, Revealing the Annointed King Part 15

by Brett Jacobsen

The focus of this teaching is to promote the biblical truth that Christ’s Kingdom is active and increasing right now on this earth, in this age. Erroneous eschatology has detracted from this truth in many circles of the Christian faith.

All of the major eschatological (study of how things end) passages are covered but the end of the world is not the important issue and true eschatology is merely a means to an end- Christ Himself as King of kings. Though we will look at the glorious end of earthly history from time to time, we will more so continually use the scriptures to interpret the scriptures and arrive at the present victorious Kingdom of Christ.

For most Christians this teaching will challenge you deeply in your understanding of the New Covenant and Christ’s Kingdom as well as liberate you greatly in the truth of His Word.

Revelation chapter 15

Below are the notes from this teaching so you can read along:

Chapter 15:1-2

15:1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled [teleo- complete] up the wrath of God. [1]

2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass [hualinos- transparent] mingled with fire [2]: and them that had gotten the victory [nikao- conquer, overcome, prevail] over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. [3]

[1] “another sign in heaven” like the covenant woman and the dragon visions.

- These seven last [eschatos] plagues complete [teleo] God’s wrath against the “generation of vipers” from the land [ge] of Israel (Matt 23:33).

[2] Sea of glass mingled with fire = the sea/multitude of saints b4 the throne baptised in God’s Spirit:

“And before the throne there was a sea of glass [hualinos- transparent] like unto crystal [krustallos from kruos - frost]…” (Rev 4:6) (See notes from 4:6)

“For our God is a consuming fire.” (Heb 12:29)

“…And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:1-4)

[3] Those who “stand on the sea of glass” were they who “had gotten the victory [nikao] over the beast”. The seven churches are told “To him that overcomes [nikao]…” (2:7, 11, 17, 26, 3:5, 12, 21); it was the first century church who “had gotten the victory [nikao] over the beast”.

Chapter 15:3-4

3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are your works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are your ways, you King of saints. [1]

4 Who shall not fear you, O Lord, and glorify your NAME? for you only are holy: for all [pas] nations [ethnos] shall come and worship before you [2]; for your judgments are made manifest. (emph mine)

[1] Song of Moses – Deut 31 - 32 (Read through it)

- (Deut 31:1-3) The song was the last act before Moses died in the mount. He didn’t pass over Jordan, Joshua did. Rev 15 focuses on Moses’ song because it spoke of the time when the last of the old order were to die in the desert, not inheriting the NT Promised Land.

- (31:19, 21) The song was a witness against the children of Israel

- (29) The song was a prophetic decree that the Israelites would be corrupted and that evil would befall them in the “latter [achariyth- last or end] days”

- (32:5) In the song, apostate Israel is referred to as “a perverse and crooked generation” which is echoed in reverse by Paul in Phil 2:15 – “in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation [genea- generation]”.

Also Jesus – “O generation [gennema] of vipers,” (Matt 3:7, 12:34, 23:33) “this wicked generation [genea]” (Matt 12:45) “O faithless and perverse generation [genea]” (Matt 17:17)

Lastly - “All these things shall come upon this generation [genea]” (Matt 23:36)

- (16-17) The song prophecies Israel’s idolatry which converts to devil worship (like the synagogue of Satan in Rev 2:9, 3:9)

- (20, 22-23, 29) It foretells their destructive end and how God hides His face from them.

- (32) It likens them to Sodom and Gomorrah, just like Revelation does.

- (35, 43) It speaks of God’s vengeance for His servants.

* The song of Moses song 2 – Ex 15:1 (Read it through)

- It’s about God’s triumph (1-3).

- It’s about destroying the Egyptians (God & Israel’s enemy) in the Red Sea (4-12, 19).

- It’s about God redeeming His people into His holy habitation (13) and mountain (17).

* “the song of the Lamb” – because it was Moses but now is Jesus who the triumph, redemption and destruction is from and through.

[2] “who shall not fear you” “and glorify your name” sounds like they believe all should do so in history:

Wherefore God also has highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at THE NAME of Jesus every [pas] knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every [pas] tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Phil 2:9-11)

- “all nations shall come and worship…” would suggest that in this life where the nations reside, this will come to pass.

Chapter 15:5-8

5 And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened [1]:

6 And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.

7 And one of the four beasts gave to the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who lives for ever [aion] and ever [aion]. [2]

8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God [3], and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled. [4]

[1] Like the song of Moses (Deut 31:19, 21)) this letter was a “testimony”/”witness” against the crooked and perverse generation which rejected Christ and killed those who He sent.

[2] Remember that it is the wrath of God

[3] Like at the dedication of Moses’ tabernacle and Solomon’s temple, so is the dedication of the NT temple filled with the glory cloud.

And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Moses finished the work. 34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. 35 And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. (Ex 40:33-35)

And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place: […] 13 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endures for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD; 14 So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God. (2 Chron 5:11-14)

[4] Of course the saints were already in the temple at this stage. It makes sense though that at this point in history (the days of vengeance) chastisement was more on God’s agenda than evangelism. Once the judgement at the house of God was fulfilled it would bring about powerful evangelism. (We ought to know the seasons and not jump ahead of God, even with evangelism).

I’ve been cogitating this recently, and I believe it’s something that the majority of people will be focusing on. One can’t expect to move forward if we simply keep our heads stuck in a box.

  2. Brett Jacobsen Says:

    True indeed Ebonie
